To meet the needs of his growing clientele, Hawco envisioned
a workshop, large enough to easily encompass a 55 ton crane for in-shop fabrication
and large component building for mining production. With his first hand
knowledge of the advantages of steel, Hawco selected a metal building system
from Allied Steel Buildings for his new workshop.
Metal building systems are prefabricated which means
construction times and price are much less than conventional buildings. The Allied
Steel Buildings team worked with Hawco to design the best solution for his metal
workshop, which includes 4 bays, an in-floor rail system strong enough to
support loads in excess of 200 tons and a 300 ton press brake. The 8,000 sq. ft. steel facility has
36’ high ceilings, with ample room for the crane and a 40’x30’ framed opening
for easy access. An R-20 Industrial Insulation System lines the roof and walls
to keep the interior protected from harsh winter cold.
Hawco and the CLMW crew easily
erected the tall pre-engineered building in two weeks and yes, their on-site
construction team is readily available for projects in the Labrador City area. With
their new Allied Steel Building, they are a metal works haven that can be
utilized for fabrication, component rebuilding, sandblasting and industrial
painting. Of course, they are still available for any mobile welding needs!
